Patrick Flanagan is the artist behind Flanagan Studios. He’s a Graphic Designer/Illustrator with a passion for mascots. His illustrations are crisp and clean, full of expression and vibrant color. And I’m thrilled to share them with you.
Patrick’s mascot designs grew out of his love of sports and drawing. But while drawing was always relaxing for him, it was something he did while pursuing other things. He never thought he could actually become a professional. And yet, here he is doing what he loves while simultaneously helping others manifest their dreams.
Here is his story.

Inspiration is truly everywhere. Others artists, everyday life, film and tv. You never know when inspiration strikes. When it comes to the mascot world, the animal kingdom is definitely a heavy influence and inspiration – especially all the beautiful birds we have here in Northeast Ohio. For some reason, I tend to draw birds quite a lot and even use an Eastern Bluebird for the mascot of my company.

To me the most challenging aspect of creative work in general is reminding myself that it is always work in progress. There’s always room for growth and improvement. Practice is key, and enjoying the process is fundamental. The internet, especially YouTube, is an incredible resource when it comes to learning the necessary software for graphic design.

I’ve been very fortunate to get a few of my designs produced through a company called “The Clink Room” which is a community of hat collectors and artists. The platform and community provided by things like the Clink Room has been a great resource for work and growth.

I have learned so much throughout an incredible journey of “chasing the dream”. Pursuing a career in film/tv was a driving force for the longest time, and visual art was just a way to relax and have fun. Regardless of whatever passion I’ve set my sights on, I’ve found living in the moment and taking on an attitude of gratitude is essential. I do believe we are all born with some creative spark; that we should encourage and inspire each other to cultivate that creativity in order to live out what I like to say is our joyful purpose.

Thank you for taking an interest in my scribbles 🙂 I’ve been tremendously fortunate to be born into a family of talented souls that encourage each others dreams. My dreams led me from Florida to New Orleans and eventually California where I met my wife which is the greatest dream come true. My heart and life is full and everything else is icing on the cake.
Thank you Patrick for sharing your work and your story! You can find more of Flanagan Studios’ work on his website.
