As the year draws to a close, I want to end with a bit of reflection – and a gift for you.
Every year around this time I do two reflection exercises – one about life in general, and one specifically about my creative work.
Alan and I do the first one together. I love this one because we always start with just a few items, and end up with a jammed full page with writings in the margins. The year always contained far more than we ever imagined.
The second one helps me reflect on my creative work and business and reminds me of what I’ve done and learned. It works best if you have goals or intentions to reflect back on, but if you don’t, use it as a guided reflection on the year in general.
The last prompt is a reminder that rest is an important part of a healthy, creative life. How did you take time to rest this past year? Rest can include a variety of things, from taking time off to refilling the creative well. Rest is about balance and coming back to center. What is restorative for one person may be very different for another. What was restful for you?

The four-page PDF contains both reflection prompts plus a bit of guidance in a print-ready format. You can also find these prompts (and many others) in the Make Something Meaningful Creative Planner.
Have a wonderful new year,
Chris
